Actually I think you'll find it's Ted that's trying to prove something here (and failing miserably); this is his thread.
It was however based on a post by Les, the gist of which was:
'It's understandable that fans love the " Champions" tag but if we want to be accurate the word comes from the original teams to compete in the competition who were the winners of the top leagues of their countries ( champions in the true sense ) extended and diluted for financial reasons to include those finishing in the top 3 or 4.
So it follows that R Madrid, Porto, Liverpool or whoever wins this comp are not Champions of Europe, they are winners of the Euro Champs Cup There is a big difference.

I merely agreed with Les. Ted (the poor sod), has been running around the internet all morning like a little poodle trying to find links to prove that Les's statement is wrong. Sadly every link he finds isn't worth a carrott!
