We had the personnel three years ago to win the league and it flew right over people's heads. yeah right, so Smurfs and Heskey and Smicer weren't everyone's cup of tea, but the fact is, up until the Spurs game three games from the end, we were right in the title race with Arsenal, with those players indispensable to the effort.. I showed you before how favourably the 80 points we finished with that season compare with other seasons over a 30-year period. Why show you again, and again and again? Do you somehow imagine a personnel change is going to bring us back to where we were three years ago when the personnel we had then were so rubbish anyway? Do you remember the part Biscan and Traore and Smicer played in winning us the European Cup last season???? The three most reviled players of the last decade and yet they were instrumental in bringing back the biggest trophy of them all??? How the f*** does that tally with your elitist concept of "improvement" and "progress"? And yet the one player almost everybody in here agreed on, namely one Mister Harry Kewell, the most exciting signing of them all, constantly fails to live up to his "promise.".
question.... and a f***ing "funny" one at thatPope Pompous XVIII nah, he scored 2 premiership goals. one in the CL and two in the FA cup. Valencia 2 - 0 Liverpool Aimar 20, Baraja 39 another report... "Gerard Houllier's Liverpool...
So yes I could name players who might improve the squad. Like Kewell and Diouf they might hold all the promise, and deliver precisely nothing.
What's the point of that?

I prefer to expose the underlying malaise which still afflicts us mentally. Until that has been purged from the air around Anfield I don't see us making an awful lot of progress to be honest. Yeah we might win trophies, as Leeds and Blackburn did. To my mind they will be but mere acquisitions, devoid of the delight we used to have in winning. I can tell you this for sure, the league cups we won under Houllier mean as much to me as that European Cup we won last May under Benitez, because at least then we played with some pride and joy in our step. Now it's just utterly mind-numbing to watch us play, knowing that it's all down to formations and tactics..
Sorry that's not for me. Even if it gets us somewhere as it probably will. -- "Truth's a dog must to kennel; he must be whipped out when the Lady Brach may stand by the fire and stink" -- The Fool
