Traore set to sign new dealfrom the Liverpool Echo BORN again defender Djimi Traore is ready to sign a new four-year deal at Anfield...
I just watched the whole EC final completely through, TWICE.
How many walked out at half timeScooby I know a bloke that did, him and a few mates, he can be forgiven, i was trying to console him over it at the airport, it was his sixth European cup...
A few points
Milans first goal, lucky, #22 was partially in front of Dudek and offside when Maldini hit the ball for the first (2 players offside).
Milans 2nd - cast iron handball and penalty for Liverpool, no doubt in my mind at all, no sending off because it wasn't malicious-deliberate but nor was it ball to hand, it stopped Garcia a clear chance at goal.
Milans 2nd goal - shouldn't of stood, when the ball is played to Shevchenko the scorer Crespo is clearly offside by a yard.
Shevchenko's disallowed goal - a bit of a surprise, should of been no offside decision because it was played by Carragher sliding back, good goal and perhaps justice for the 2nd goal, Milan can have no complaints really.
2nd half
Early Milan corner - Cafu won a corner after a defensive messup, ball laid back and Cafu hits a shot that is deflected for a corner, this despite two players clearly being between 1-3 yards offside.
Liverpools second goal, flag went up for an offside against Baros, the referee waved the linesman to put his flag down, the ref was 5 yards from play when the pbutt was made, and it was very marginal and i couldn't say either way.
Liverpool penalty - should Gattuso of been sent off? I say YES, he stopped Gerrard a clear shot as the last man when he first made contact. Cafu was closing down but would not of prevented a shot.
4 minutes or so after the penalty a ball is played over the top for Baros, he was given offside but was ONSIDE when the ball was played, he was in the clear.
Apart from that i think the first half was not quite as one sided as it was made to seem, possession seemed pretty equal but Milan carved more clear chances (throughout the game aswell), Liverpool found it hard to keep possession but had chances.
Milan were the better team but Liverpool were a team in infancy and deserve huge credit for their performance.
