All I said was he did not just "score one goal against Arsenal". He contributed a bit more than that and it should be recognized.

You then blathered on about potential, and bought up Le Tallec for some reason.

FWIW Mellor does have potential. All the young players on Liverpool's books do, otherwise there is no point in having them is there!

The big question is will he-they be able to develop it so as to become a regular in the Liverpool team.

Mellor scores goals for fun in the reserves but has been unlucky with injuries at the wrong time (when all the other stikers are injured he really needed to stay injury free). He is an out-andout striker who does have a eye for goal. Some of his movement when off the ball have also been good. For example the goal Alonso scored against Arsenal. Mellor made a run that pulled the CB away from the centre of goal towards the corner flag thus allowing plenty of space for Alonso toslot home SG square ball. There are lots of examples of this side of his game.

There is little chance that he will get the run of games he need so I agree with another poster that he should be loaned out to another club so as to let his game develop and then Liverpool can determine if he will deliver on his "potential".

Le Tallec has skill in abundance. What he is currently suffering from the delusion that he had "made it". A year with Sunderland scored 2 goals so far will, hopefully, knock that ot of him and we will see a hard working determined player when he rejoins the squad.
