LUIS FIGO was today locked in talks with Real Madrid to pave the way for his transfer to Liverpool.

Figo, 32, has agreed a two-year contract at Anfield and the Portuguese international is hopeful the Spanish club will drop their demand for a £2m fee, allowing his switch to Anfield to proceed.

Figo has accepted a huge pay cut to join the Reds, slashing demands for a £90,000-a-week salary in half.
