LUIS FIGO was today locked in talks with Real Madrid to pave the way for his transfer to Liverpool.
Figo, 32, has agreed a two-year contract at Anfield and the Portuguese international is hopeful the Spanish club will drop their demand for a £2m fee, allowing his switch to Anfield to proceed.
Figo has accepted a huge pay cut to join the Reds, slashing demands for a £90,000-a-week salary in half.
However, Rafa Benitez will call the deal off if the matter isn't concluded imminently.
Meanwhile, new signings Bolo Zenden and Jose Reina will be considered for tomorrow's Champions League warm-up at Wrexham (kick-off 3pm).
