from defiant 1 Welcome indeed.........
"Is Rafa the man?". Well we ALL want him to be the man. Certainly Sunday was a game best forgotten. And the 5-4-1 formation was almost Houllieresque in it's negativity and something that Benitez himself would conceed (albeit in private).
Most people here seem to think that the team-club is still feeling a Houllier hangover as it were. Remember under the last desperate months of the Houllier regime he virtually destroyed the players confidence and freedom to express themselves on the pitch. That kind of attitude will take some time to change.....
Think the signing's he has made are better than the Fench imports and Garcia and Alonso had steady if not spectacular debut's. I personally would prefer a mix of players and nationalities rather than a bloc of players signed from just one league or country. But I can't argue with the quality of Joesmi, Garcia and Alonso.
Rampant Arsenal embarrbutt EvertonA virtuoso performance from Dennis Bergkamp inspired Arsenal to victory. Thanks to Bergkamp's vision and touch Arsenal had scored twice in the opening 12 minutes, the Dutchman setting up Robin...
My concern is that the team needs to gel and fast. Time is something that any LFC manager doesn't have (unless he wins the Premiership). My major concern is the seemingly different planets Baros and Cisse seem to be on. Baros, it seems has trouble looking up from the ground. And Cisse is still adjusting to the step up in clbutt that comes with the Premiership.
A good season this term would mainly consist of the following;
* Better style of football *Better consistency *Better league placing *Closing the gap on Arsenal and Chelsea. *Maybe a cup (League, FA or CL*)
Other than that I think it may well be some time before we can say whether Rafa is the man. As most of us thought Houllier was also the man in 2001!!!
