i believe it was stated at the time that rafa said he had read in the echo that sissoko was available and being courted by the BS. Makes the purchase of Momo all the better imho ;-) hehehe.
however there is a story that benitiez had been tracking momo all along.

of course it was benitez who initially signed sissoko, albeit for another club, valencia.
