The sky continues to fall in for Everton after yet another heavy defeat at the hands of limited opposition.
The DerbyNervous about it? I know I am. The BS are in disarray but still able to raise their game when they need to for example vrs Chelsea and ManU. The gap...
Changes were made from the side that got snotted by Bolton, with Nigel Martyn returning in goal, Phil Neville replacing Nuno Valente at left-back, and Per Kroldrup finally making his competitive debut in place of David Weir. It was all for nought though, as a goal in either half for Milan Baros and second half strikes for Mark Delaney and Juan Pablo Angel ensured yet another humiliation for the Blues.
So, where do we go from here?
The most obvious and easiest change is to sack the manager. David Moyes' record this season is indefensible; in fact since qualifying for Europe it almost looks like he is running a seminar on how not to manage a Premiership football team. You could maybe make a case when we get beat by good sides, or even by average ones who are on good runs of form, but Everton are regularly getting turned over by downright bad sides. Villa, for instance, were on the same points as us before this match, so there's all you need to know about them.
Those who have been loathe to demand the manager's head in recent months have been accused of all sorts, from being na.ve to having some sort of misplaced loyalty, with the patronising phrase 'In Moyes We Trust' often dragged out as the final slur. Likewise, Bill Kenwright and the Everton board have been branded weak by some for their refusal to summon a cab for the Everton manager well before now.
