After getting back at 1.30am and having slept on it here is a couple of points of my take on the final:
- Although we didn't deserve to win I thought we unlucky in the way we lost (if that makes sense at all) - Having said that if we had have hung on and won I wouldn't have cared if we deserved it or not. - Definite penalty - I don't think we tried to sit on the lead, ala Houllier, we just played badly. Problem for me was our pbutting. Because we couldn't keep the ball for more than a few seconds, it kept coming straight back at us. In comparison they kept the ball a lot better and therefore penned us back. This had the effect of the team sitting far too deep and isolating the front line (and therefore making it more difficult to pbutt the ball and get out). Chief culprits, Garcia, Kewell and Baros (when he was on). - Reason I don't think we tried to sit on the lead is that I was not far from Benitez, and everytime I looked over to him he was desperately trying to get the defense to push up. He knew what the problem was but the players could not pbutt the ball well enough to be able to change it. - Cole and Drogba want shooting for almost getting Hyypia sent off. Worst case of diving I've seen for a long time, and I watch most Spanish games! And on the point did you see Mourinho arguing with Carragher cos he thought Finan had dived? The wanker. - WTF is Kewell doing signaling to come off ? He certainly didn't *look* injured. If he could feel a twinge or not, IT'S THE CUP FINAL. - They looked a LOT fitter than us. But I think this was just a symptom of us chasing them for most of the game. - Why *did* Hyppia duck? How feckin annoying that the goal was so defendable just by heading it out. - Now onto Gerrard. Not seen him play so anonymously for a long, long time. He looked like he didn't care but I personally think he might been injured. If only he had taken that chance before his goal

Hopefully the clear out can begin. Everyone knows the majority of the squad is not good enough. I don't blame Benitez in anyway for the squad, lets just hope he gets enough money in the summer to be able to change things significantly.
As much as I love Gerrard, if the only way we can provide enough money to Benitez is to sell him, then he HAS to go in the summer. Just hopefully not to Chelsea.......
