To be honest, I have to agree with both sides really, both arguments can be backed up.
I as an Evertonian am happy at the moment with Evertons current financial-business side. We have been run so badly over the last 15 years it is a surprise that we are still in the top flight (and we have gone close to not being). I am sure deep down, most fans from other clubs will admit that Everton have the possibility of becoming a great (ok very good) side again with the backing of such a huge support but this will obvioulsy take time and will only happen if the club is secure, which we are starting to show.
90% of fans would quite happily lose financial stability to go and win the CL, or even a trophy these days. What happened 2 years ago was fully deserved but how we achieved 4th with that squad I do not know? Can we finish 4th again, obviously yes because we have done it with a worse side....but, it will only happen if one of the big 4 really under performs (Liverpool 2 seasons ago, Arsenal last year). We can all hope that we can obtain 4th again and just get through the qualifiers because unless we do this, we will always be unseeded and face the likes of Villareal in the qualifiers.
Liverpool have spent more than us....yes, but they do have the trophies. The truth is though is that it is a fine line between success and failure and they (unfortunately for us) have managed to put that in their favour. Look at the trophies they have won in the last 5 years.
Late Gerrard goal last year 3-0 return against Milan Battered by Arsenal but Owen scores 2 late goals Alaves replacing their best player Birmingham unlucky against them
Time to dump the lumpardI mainly agree. Hargreaves will probably get even better in time and don't dispute that Lampard is not in...
The thing is, they have all been won and that is why everything looks rosey. I am sure Reds would not be as happy with the current setup if they had lost 3-0 against Milan and lost against West Ham, it would be a completely different picture.
Finally, people go on about Moyes's possible transfer targets. Yes, I am disgusted with all the failed, much publicised transfers that never happened because we cant do any dealings quietly but think of just the following, all approached by Everton (if you believe reports) last year but quite frequently believed to not be good enough, especially by our loveable neighbours.
Bellamy (ridiculed for even be interested in the little neckless imp) Agger (Who?) Pennant (Jailbird) Kuyt (Who, what a waste of money?) Fowler (past it!)
These comments were all what was said from Liverpool fans, not my words. How things change!!!
Overall, we should be happy with what our club is doing, yes...I wasnt too happy with what was going on until Xmas last year but, things seem to be moving forward. I am a strong believer in that player power has affected Everton now so it makes it much harder to achieve. I believe that our great season 2 years ago was because players were all playing for contracts and last year they werent. I have also seen similar last year with the Geordies, funny how they so under-performed with Souness as manager (when we know him and Shearer had had a bust up) and then it all changed when Roeder came in. Players have too much influence now so it is good to see us building a team from young players who want to play for us and want to win rather than lazy scottish pigeon handlers!!!!
Fingers crossed for a win on Saturday!!!
(Sorry for going off on one!!!)
