For the record apart from Linekar the rest of your England players left after the 1987 league campaign when you were champions so i dont think the 86 world cup had anything to do with it. Maybe your players lacked the ambition to stay at Everton basically,you may have lost 2 players in Steven and Stevens but what was stopping you going out and buying other players of quality? when Dalglish stopped playing we bought Beardsley, when we sold Rush everyone thought that's it, we'll never replace him and who did we find? Aldridge, Liverpool in those days always had the ability to replace the 'irreplaceable' whereas Everton didn't and that's why Everton never recovered. As for the 86 season, you go on about Mimms which i think is rubbish, you lost fair and square in the Cup Final, your goals dried up towards the end of the season and Rush always had the beating of binman anyway ;-) you also seem to forget that Liverpools run of 12 unbeaten league games at the end of the season only came about when Dalglish decided to play himself, who's to say if he'd been strong enough to play himself earlier we would have won the campaign earlier than we did? At the end of the day, all what you say is hypothetical, the most important thing is now, it's no good dwelling on what might have been cos you cant ever be sure if what you think would have happened, you have to learn to get on with life, 20 years has pbutted since that horrific night, i was there and a lot of things have changed for the better now since then thank god, Everton have struggled and Liverpool too in comparison to the 'Dalglish' days but now we have a team that are European Champions which is an incredible achievement and you should be made up to have got 4th place against all the odds and hope that Moyes continues his progress with your team.
