Try looking at the rules - they state that it is up to the FA as to who gets in, the reigning champs or whoever came in 4th. In the end, they applied for dispensation and both teams made it. Actually, Liverpool made it, the only thing the BS made was the half time cups of Bovril - it's all they were fit for!

Ah, taking things the wrong way... Liverpool *won* the European Cup for the *5th* time and had to go through the first 3 preliminary matches to get through to the league part. This is unmistakable FACT. Everton didn't manage to get past the 3rd qualifier. Again FACT. Liverpool managed to get through to the knock out stage before being knocked out. Again no denying it - it's a FACT. Everton was knocked out of the UEFA qualifier. Again FACT.
So, let's look at it again. We won it 2004-2005 season then in 2005-2006 won the FA Cup, then the Community Shield 2006-2007. Everton have managed what since their 4th place and miserable drubbing out of all the European cups? Oh, let's not forget which team managed to get through to the 2005-2006 World Club Championship (yes, we didn't win it - but hey, the nearest the BS came to it was when they visited Anfield or watched it in the pub).

Now, as for being stupid, I think your "neither team won it, Barcelona did" while true has to be one of the weakest arguments I've heard in years. You are correct that neither Liverpool or the BS won anything that year, but at least one side of the city did it proud and put up something of a game!
Wha? Let's not focus on performances? Are you seriously saying that by getting through the league stage in the same group as the Chav's and as group winners that we were poor? Whatever you're smoking, stop - it's giving you seriously screwed up halucinations!

In the knock out stages. Winners of the league stages. You know - the thing which you have to get through to get to the knockout stages. I don't call that close to embarrbutting. I would call the noise coming from you and the other BS "supporters" that they're "qualified" for Europe when they managed to get the 4th spot and then being drummed out of both competitions in 2 months AND failing to win *anything* domestically to be embarrbutting. Yes, we were beaten at home and away by another team who had managed to get through the league stages - something the BS never even managed to actually qualify for. Doesn't matter really - what does matter is WHEN we were beaten.
Correct - the rules were changed to say that the winner is automatically allowed to defend their title after that bit of fun and games. Not that it means anything to the BS - I mean, what are the chances they'll manage to get close to being near to being somewhere in the league that means they may be able to qualify for some pissant European cup which is usually awarded to the happy bus players... -- "ist du meine Mutter?" - der leerkinde
