If it was that simple, why wouldn't homeless people simply sign up for it? Housing benefit is a laugh, it takes 2-4 weeks on average to come through. I should know, I...

No the homeless man did not benefit, homeless men don't generally have houses to lose. But the people that have lost their houses due to repossession orders will have lived in their house for a period. Additionally the house is sold and that often pays off the debt, the people do not have a house, but nor do they have a debt.

Also, you may have heard of income support and housing benefit?

How many homeless are just people down on their luck like in your example and how many are a product of our woeful mental health system?

We as a nation are rich enough to ensure neither are homeless we could look after them, but we prefer to spend our money on other things sadly.

Some people get the biggest house they can possibly get not leaving scope for something predicatable like an interest rate rise, their income dropping because one of them gets pregnant or not getting unemployment insurance all because they want the biggest house. Some people are just irresponsible like that. So tough poo *if* that was the case, in the same way tough poo on me should I take out eight credit cards and max the limit on them all.

Before this nation had a decent (low) mortality rate because of decent sanitation and heath care couples would generally have more children.

When the economy is agrarian then you rely on your children to help. When the rest rate is high then you need more than 1.94 children.

i.e. their debt, not one enforced on them. Our welfare state will make damn sure that the children of the people you refer to do not end up on the street or starve.

How many? Sod all.

No you are not, read your opening post in this thread again.

"At the moment I owe a few quid to Barclays and Halifax. The repayments are hindering me. Could you all sign below to request the banks to cancel my debt and double my overdraft? Thankyou."

Nothing to do with being down on your luck or caring for your family.

I take it as some form of achievement that you have moved on from that initial chav-childish post though.

So you want to help the homeless in this country,

Let us know how you get on.
