Thanks for all the feedback on this thread, I think it's a case of setting out the "individual rules" beforehand and sticking by them. I think the thing is that if you know what rules you are playing beforehand YOU can then decide to make a decision or a call like that in the game.
I certainly didn't keep silent for the fact the guy was "off his head", but , to be honest, I don't think he would have lasted the two and a half hours longer that the game took. He was throwing up 10 mins after going out.
I really , honestly didn't think at the time that my silence was "bending the rules". I think my conscious is clear in the fact I didn't gain from the hand. I really can't speak for the other guys who were sat around the table that night and I don't even know if they did see what I saw.I know one thing though, I'll be keeping my eye on things next time.
So I've learnt something from this.
From the BBC websiteLifted from the BBC Sport website The first trophy of the English season is up for grabs on Sunday as Liverpool and Chelsea...
It was, as I said, a small gathering of work mates getting together for a Friday night session away from the wife. Music, beer and smokes. One guy overdid it and got fleeced out of a hand. The guy that won the hand didn't win the "prize". I aint won at one of these nights yet, but the £20 I put into the put beforehand wouldn't have bought a better night "out on the town". In fact, I'd have probably spent a whole lot more money. The drunk guy may have lost his £20 on a bum call but I bet he had the best night out he'd had in a while. Went home smashed and lost £20. Apart from the flack he'll get from the wife, I don't really think he would give a poo that he went out on a bum call. He had a cracking time at his first ever poker game with the lads ;-)
I know I wouldn't complain if I was him, I provided the beer and food!!! :-)
