Carra - centre-half, either full back position Riise - left-back, left mid Finnan - right-back, right mid Traore - left-back, centre-back Gerrard - right-back, right-mid, left-mid, holding-centre-mid, attacking centre-mid, hole player, goal-keeper (probably) Sissoko - holding mid, right-mid (at least I think he can play wide), attacking mid (apparently, but i don't see that) Hamman, Alonso - either can play as a holding player behind another midfielder or as a flat 2 Garcia - left wing, right wing, hole player, striker Kewell - Left wing, right wing, hole player, striker Zenden - Centre mid, left wing, hole player Cisse - Right mid, striker
Which gives rise to the keep the opposition guessing as to who is playing & where they are playing even.
So if the squad is gradually improved with the above in mind, it won't be too much disruption and buttimilation into the team ethos would be smooth.
With all that in mind, big money siginings are not what is needed, just a gradual improvement & tinkering year-on-year would be good enough.
