Another point I wanted to make in this thread - the most recent research on cannabis, as I've mentioned, is being driven by the nay sayers-anti-cannabis lobbies - desperately scrambling around looking for reasons to keep it illegal. I'm just wondering, if they took the same amount of study time researching a viable screening method to 'weed out' fner! the people who are likely to find that cannabis can precipitate the onset of their inherent mental health conditions - it would do a whole lot more good. They are not arguing that it *causes* mental health issues, rather that it can bring them out in people already with the problem. Even the police know this for Christ's sake....see here: "....It can also cause psychotic reactions amongst individuals *with* mental health problems" your friends abusive partner was already a headcase!)

At the end of the day, people like myself will blatantly disregard the law as it stands - we will smoke it anyway. It would make a whole lot of sense if they accepted that, and looked for ways to reduce any possible harm. They could recommend eating-cooking cannabis or vaporising it - two ways of taking cannabis with no risk of cancer. To compare it to the work drug charities and organisations have done with injection. They went from simply telling people not to do it, to informing them of how to do it safely and reduce harm to themselves and others around them. This, with the provision of clean injecting paraphernalia, reduced the amount of injection related problems *drastically*. The problems of cannabis are miniscule by comparison - almost negligible. But if they can help people to avoid any possible problems, rather than simply say "don't do it, it is illegal!", then they will have done something sensible at last.
