"The Liverpool reserves secured an important 2-0 victory away to league leaders Manchester United this evening.
United were looking for their 8th consecutive win this evening in the reserves league but they rarely posed a threat, especially with rookie Liverpool 'keeper Paul Willis in between the sticks.
Goals from former Manchester United striker Ramon Calliste and Besian Idrizaj secured the points for Liverpool. An error by Manchester United allowed Calliste to round the 'keeper to make it 1-0 in the first half and substitute Idrizaj made it 2-0 when he headed home from a corner in the second half.

The bad news is that youngster Darren Potter was stretchered off after just 23 minutes after he was pushed to the ground by a Manchester United player in the centre of the park. He was already holding his back as he went to ground and he sadly remained down for some time.
Things started to look serious with Potter staying down for some time unable to move. A stretcher was brought on and kept by his side while he received treatment from the Liverpool medical staff who were then backed-up by their Manchester United counterparts. He was stretchered off unable to move.
Neil Mellow came off the bench on 72 minutes and although he was greeted with chants of "You fat b*stard!" he looked lively and dangerous. It wasn't long before he tested the United 'keeper with a powerful shot from outside the area."
