True. Miserable bugger who can never see anything wrong with his players actions but plenty with his opponents (not alone there) but he has a good eye for a young player who is a bit special. Arsenal have done their share of spending in the past but he is very gifted at getting early imports. A very shrewd judge.
I have my doubts and have had them for a long time. Seems to be in the same off the peg market as most other managers and have to wonder about the seeming lack of urgency. The comments of not being held to ransom and the difficulty of last minute transfer negotiations are not related, although a board spokesman put them up as an excuse. Why so late is the obvious question?
But to be fair to Benitez, there is a mbuttive difference between his club and Arsenal where Venger has established a fine side who are now familiar with each other and play as a real team. It's far easier to buy and build with thoughts on future seasons when you can be pretty confident on a top 3 place this time. Raffa started with a pretty ordinary buttortment and has this burden of needing top 4 success right away in order to keep the cash flowing in for future buying. No easy task ,so it is understandable that established players are his priority right now.
