Hmm, I wonder? Cup games are hardly the ultimate test of a managers skills and Venger has managed to win a few Prem Championships and kept his side unbeaten for a season in what is possibly the hardest to win league in Europe?
Rafa has much to prove. I cannot forget his inept display in the first half of the final when the reason for his teams problems was so obvious to everyone watching but ,seemingly, not to him as no tactical changes or substitutions were made until his side were 3 down. To get 3 back at this level calls for a lot of good luck. He got it, otherwise we would still be asking what the hell he was thinking of while the game was lost.
Praise for Jol and Wenger 3664Lescor yet SAF(the only other of the top 3 managers to succeed in europe with their current club) sent Rafa a document-appraisal of his tactical...
Results are everything in football, but they can hide weaknesses. The champions league cup result has gained him a lot of affection with fans who could just as easliy have turned nasty. I am not sure how long this will last?
Maybe I am wrong to have doubts. Maybe he is the tactical wizard some make him out to be. We will soon know. but one thing I am certain about. None of the 3 top English team managers would have allowed what happened in the first 45 mins of the Euro final to carry on without at least instructing tactical changes to cut the supply to the man doing so much damage.
