Spot on. Obviously a 0-0 can be boring beyond description, but it is nonsense to suggest that this score always means a poor game. I am sure we have all seen plenty of no score blinders over the years.
But it is also true that a 0-0 ,when the result of over emphasis on defence by both sides, is not pretty to watch. The problem seems to be that so many teams are trying to play like Chelsea with 4-5-1 but without the attacking flair of that teams nominal midfielders, with always 2 of them who would have been called fast attacking wingers a few years ago.
Recent Arsenal and Man U teams had this midfield pace and skill in abundance, and, with Chelsea, could probably play 4-6-0 and sometimes did for a brief time in many matches. How often did Man U break and score from a starting position of all 11 men in their own last third?
garcia is an idiotWell no it isn't hard, what I'd have to do is set my newsreader to 'show read messages', that...
It calls for fast skilful players. A healthy cheque book has been a great buttet for all three of them, but how much of this scoring flair comes from the training ground? The style and system a side plays has to be dictated by the type of talents the manager has available and not lumped onto a group of players unsuited to it. Some of them seem not to understand this, including Benitez who would be far better to employ 4-4-2 or even 4-4-3 with the players he has right now, at least in EPL games.
We all know the importance of staying in the Prem will make some sides cautious but managers know that 3 point games are vital. The lack of goals (if it really exists) probably has more to do with attempts to play a fashionable system rather than any real lack of ambition........although not sure if this is true of Benitez who more and more seems to be a clone of the manager he followed?
