Mark Platt in Brussels 19 October 2005 Rafael Benitez hailed the goalscoring contribution of Djibril Cisse in Liverpool's Champions League victory over Anderlecht and said the win was fully deserved. Cisse's 20th minute strike in the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium was enough to secure a crucial three points that leaves the Reds well-placed for qualification from Group G.
Speaking to the press afterwards, Benitez said: "Djib did very well. It was a good goal, the keeper had no chance, and it's good for him to keep scoring. The fact that the goal came from a set-piece was extra pleasing and we must do this more often.
"It was a difficult game. We created a lot of opportunities, I think we had 18 shots in total, but couldn't score a second goal that would have end them off.
"We controlled the first half but were under pressure for quite a bit in the second half when Anderlecht played some good football going forward.
"Overall though it was a really good result and maybe one more win will be enough for us now to qualify."
