Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has revealed he is ready to end his feud with Jose Mourinho.

Benitez and Mourinho have failed to see eye-to-eye for some time after a war of words between the pair.

The duo have been at loggerheads ever since Liverpool beat Chelsea in the 2005 UEFA Champions League semi-finals courtesy of Luis Garcia's controversial goal.

The row continued when the pair failed to shake hands after Liverpool's Community Shield win over Chelsea in August.

However, ahead of this weekend's trip to Stamford Bridge, Benitez revealed he is ready to offer an olive branch to his Portuguese rival.

"If he wants to shake hands, I don't have any problems with that. I will shake," insisted Benitez.

"I'll give him the opportunity to shake hands, if he wants. We'll go down there and be his guests on Sunday. I prefer to talk about football than these small things.

"At the end of the game, I will wait and see if he offers his hand. If he does, then I'll shake it, not a problem.

"Normally, when a manager comes to Anfield and comes to see me, I'll welcome him and offer him all the best for the season.

"I've never spoken about his team, so it's time to finish with this situation.

"People should be talking about football. We should be talking about things on the pitch, not matters off it."
