He did turn them down the summer he signed for Liverpool. Remember Rafa was a Real Madrid coach earlier, and I think it`s a dream of his to manage them in the future. Seeing this from my favourite chair in norway, I can`t say I`m sorry. English football has been popular for 30-40 years in this country, and I have to say my interrest has been dropping. I used to love Liverpool when they had british players. I love the way english players (or they used to...) give everything to one more goal. Not like today, if they`re 1-0 up they defend till the ref blows his whistle. I wish Liverpool would get a british coach, signing british players. The national team is clearly suffering since only 2-3 english player are playing for the top 5-6 clubs. I think the english-british players also feel they have to prove themselves every time they enter the pitch for england, and this makes them nervous, since they know a bad national game can put them on the bench at their club as well since the coach has just signed a spanish, french or "whatever" player in their position....
