HULL CITY chairman Adam Pearson today warned Liverpool will have to raise their valuation to secure teenage winger Paul Anderson, after claiming the Reds have had one bid rejected for the 17-year-old.

Reds coach Paco Herrera - in charge of youth recruitment for the senior side - targeted Anderson after a trial earlier in the season.

It seemed a deal for the player was off last week following ongoing behind-the-scenes discussions at Anfield about how much Liverpool should spend on untried reserve players.

But now Hull say Liverpool's interest has been revived with a formal bid.

Hull say they want to make on-loan midfielder John Welsh part of an exchange deal.

With Anderson out of contract at the end of the season, Liverpool wouldn't expect to pay over the odds for a player yet to make a first team appearance.

"An offer arrived on Friday. We are not happy with that because we don't want to sell the boy," said Pearson.

"But if the boy wants to go and the offer is substantial enough we will do it because John Welsh is an extremely good player."

Anderson would join the list of starlets recruited by Herrera since the start of the season as he revitalises Liverpool's youth set-up to compensate for the lack of senior players arriving from The Academy.
