Finnan - 8 - solid defensively and has started delivering up field; as the two buttists in his last two games prove. Hyppia - 8 - I'd give him 9 if he had a yard more pace. Very little gets past him in the air. Mido gave him and Carragher a hard time yesterday, though. Riise - 6.5 - he was awful yesterday - maybe that's tainted my opinion. The least consistent of the back four after a really good start to the season. Kewell - 7 - looks twice the player he was with the injury. The goal will have done much for his confidence, and he is - very much - a confidence player. Looks to be working harder for the team since he got back too. I wonder how long that will last ;0) Gerrard - 9 - better than last season. He can improve, though, in terms of judging when to try the defence splitting pbutt from his own half and when to play it simply. He's better in that respect than he's been, but he still makes some bad choices. But criticising Gerrard is like moaning about Claudia Schiffer because she's got a yellow head on her arse. Cisse - 6 - more goals and less attitude please, Djibril. I know he has been played out of position, but he managed to adapt quickly to being the Lord of Frodsham - surely the right wing is a streak of piss after that. Needs to work on his first touch and getting his head up. Garcia - 6.5 - he's giving the ball away less, but we don't appear to be seeing as much of his mercurial spark this season. I wonder if Benitez is losing his patience, a little, with Garcia? Alonso - 8 - yesterday was the worst game I've seen him have for the Reds for ages. Mind you, he wasn't great against Luton and he still managed to score two great goals. If this is his idea of a bad patch, then it's a testament to the man's clbutt and professionalism. He's getting stuck in too. Crouch - 7.5 - he's added a new dimension to our game. Great attitude. Great altitude. Turning circle and speed of an oil tanker, though. Hamann - 7 - clearly being phased out in favour of the more mobile and athletic Sissoko. Still has a lot to offer us. Professional. Unflappable. Wins the ball and rarely gives it away. The finest winner of cheap free kicks during adverse periods of a game in the Premiership. Morientes - 8 - the fact that he's not scoring will be bothering him more than it's bothering us. Looked rusty yesterday after his injury. A bit slow but he's got a footballing brain made by the same God who crafted Kenny's, and you don't get higher praise than that. Carson - 6 - hard to judge. Must be daunting for a 20 yr. old to get the odd game in a team with such an incredible defensive record. Sissoko - 8 - hmmm... but he's 20 too! Once he gets his distribution sorted, which will come with experience seems to panic on occasions, he will be awesome. Great start to his Liverpool career. Carragher - 9 - hasn't had to rise to the one man defensive wall feats of last season, but that's because everyone is playing better. We all dream of a team of Carraghers, a team of Carraghers... Pongolle - 7 - limited opportunities, but he's determined to make the most of them. A good run in the FA Cup is important to give him the first team experience he needs to fulfill his obvious potential. Reina - 8 - what a season, when we find it hard to judge our new keeper because we've hardly seen him. Warnock - 7 - positioning isn't great. Tends to get sucked into the middle too easily. Great engine. Occasionally uses the ball really well too. Next year's Finnan. Zenden - 7 - he was looking very good after a slow start. He wouldn't have been getting much first team action recently, though, with the form that Kewell's in. Benitez - 10 - moving in the right direction. He's given us - quietly and by virtue of hard work - the main ingredient that has been missing since the great teams of our glory years: consistency. I love the way he hates being in front of the cameras. I hope he knows how much we value that.
