I agree Ren. It would not take many decent buys to turn this side into contenders next term, or more likely the season after. Injuries have been mbuttive at times and the bench not that strong. Even so, if the CL is so important why rest players from the elimination rounds (Prem league games) simply because of a forthcoming Euro tie? I like the idea of , within reason, fielding your best side at all times. I don't think it is unreasonable to think that Pool could have been in the position they are now and still have 5 or 6 more league points Why too many poor league displays? Maybe because the manager devalues those games in the minds of the players with his team choice which suggests other games are more important? Every league game is there to be won was the philosophy of past Pool sides and quite a few other good sides since. It was at the core of Arsenal's unbeaten run and Man U's and now Chelsea's success this year. I think it is always the way to go regardless of the strength of the side.
