Solano: I'd love to move to Reds

NOLBERTO SOLANO has told Aston Villa he'd love to join Liverpool, as the Milan Baros transfer saga took another twist.

Villa manager David O'Leary insists he won't let the 30-year-old leave as part of a swop deal.

But Solano says he would 'love to go' to Anfield having been alerted to Rafa Benitez's interest.

"It is fantastic when a big club comes in for a player," said Solano today.

"Ask any player in the world if they would love to play for a big club - and everyone would love to.

"I won't say: 'No, I don't want to go to Liverpool' because they are a big club who want to challenge to win titles - any player would love to go to Liverpool.

"If you ask any player what they would do if a big club came in for them, Manchester United, Chelsea or Liverpool - everybody would love to go there."

Villa's hopes of securing Baros have hit a snag because Lyon have tabled an £8.5m bid.

Baros prefers a switch to Villa Park, but the Midlands club must improve their offer. Solano's comments may force them to rethink their strategy.

Solano is in the final year of his Villa contract.
