It's clear that this online bet isn't going to happen. I deposited £1,000 in my online betting account from my bank account today. In three days time it will clear and show in my betting account and I'm simply gonna transfer it back (without charge thankfully). Ted clearly hasn't done the same and has either been waiting for me to do it first or has been stalling in the hope that the bet will collapse, I think it's the latter. However if you were genuine about the bet Ted then here's a way to sort this out....
I earlier suggested we send each other a cheque for £1,000 post dated to the end of the season. The loser then rips up the cheque they're holding and the winner cashes their one. Ted immediately said that would be no good as he said I'd cash his one if I lost. Stalling again maybe? Let's give him a chance to prove he's genuine in wanting to make a bet.
I will write a cheque for £1,000 made payable to Ted, he will do the same making it payable to me. We will then send the cheques not to each other, but two 2 well known members of each of the 2 NGs (EFC & LFC). These people will hold the cheques, however here's the clever bit... my cheque to Ted will be held by a red, and Ted's cheque to me will be held by a blue. At the end of the season if I have lost then his kopite friend simply sends him the cheque, and vice versa if I win. The person holding the cheque written by the winner rips it up or returns it.
I thought it would be good to ask a well known and respected person from each group to be the cheque holdees, 2 people with similar qualities and I've decided that Simon form the Liverpool NG and Stephen from the Everton NG will be excellent people to ask.
So Simon & Stephen, are you up for it? And more importantly, Ted do you still have the bottle?
