A very good article. I've been watching the G14 stories very closely lately and it's got me worried. Very worried. The thing that worries me most is how far do the G14 want to go? Do they ultimately want their own European Super League? If this happens, then we will see the beginning of the end of football in Europe. Think I'm overstating it? Well, what would happen to Scottish football if Rangers and Celtic moved to England?
It's very easy for supporters of G14 clubs to be selfish, put those blinkers on and just think about the positive effect it will have on their own club. Particularly when the qualification to G14 is so suspect. So, let's say for instance, that a certain event didn't happen 20 years ago (before some blood starts to boil here, I'm making a point about G14 not some wound opening exercise) and Everton did something very possible and won the European Cup - let's say that important players and the manager then stayed at the club and they all went on to lift the trophy again. Now that's say that the Everton board still went on to completely mismanage the club for 15 or more years and find ourselves where we are now: just getting out of the mess. So, despite our persistent fcuk-ups we'd still find ourselves in the G14 based on events of 20 years ago. Madness.
Let's hope that sense is found and the world's biggest sport can prevail.
