The voice of reason speaks.... Gez, I get exactly what your saying and fully understand you frustration (I share it) but would ask one question.

Are you convinced, so far, that Benitez cannot do the job?

If the answer to that question is "yes" then do not bother reading the following.

A clear out is needed. The players brought in, weather Spanish or not, need time to settle in the building of a new team for a new era. Time to settle in a new country and time to settle into the pace of the Premiership.

I recall, quite a few years ago, when Houllier first took over and brought in lots of young new players; getting slated in this newsgroup in his first season for not delivering. I remember you showing great optimism at the fact that a great coach had taken over and the signs for premiership glory wasn't far away. You gave grief to the doubters in this group that their "slating" was unjustified and prompted a "give him time" call from yourself and others buttociated with the newsgroup. I was one who gave him full support *to the end*, as you know.

A few season later we win 5 trophies in a season and everyone is singing the guy's praises, as I .

Over the next few seasons, we do not improve and, in a realistic evaluation, get worse. I , as you, think Houllier *should* have been given one more season, but this did not happen and Benitez was brought in to "steady the ship" or "take us forward" and get us back to winning ways like the great "Liverpool Football Club" of past.

If you understood my frustration Kev you'd know the shortcomings of Rafael Benitez were never a contributory factor. No more nor less...

I for one, have seen that we are inconsistent and the pain that most LFC fans must feel at EFC being above us at the moment and pushing for that 4th spot *IS* hurting. We, as a team, should be pushing for a lot higher than that.I would not be an LFC fan if I didn't think that way.

I agree, we need some English steel in the side and still think that Benitez is hoping to build for this. Maybe a fee dips in the summer will prompt this, who knows?

You have to get behind the team, and as you did when Houllier took over a few season ago, you gave him full support in his first season of mediocrity. So give it a break, judge him over a two year period and maybe, just maybe people will agree with you if things go bad. At the moment, I, as well as you, have seen a lot in this newsgroup over the years. From the good times too the bad and from the glory of 5 trophys in a season, to the mire of crap football at the moment.

DaveG Souness relative to his peers *at the time* used big money, so did Evans...

Come on Gez, express your feelings by all means, but let's judge when Judgement should be ruled and not before. You will only express yourself as a hypocrite if things do go well and we do start getting some good results. Then would you be able to honestly "celebrate" if we do go onto full glory?

One season in a transitional period does not warrant the comments that you make and I feel you may be made to eat your words in the next few season. IMO. No disrespect to your opinion, your entitled to it, and this is not a dig or slagging off. Just the voice of reason

ALL THE WAY POPE, come on, I have respect for your opinion so please respect that of a few hundred thousand optimist's amongst us that want only good for the team, the club and the fans.
