We were defending Europe, large parts of France Belguim,Holland etc as it was he was already on OUR soil, it was not, as you'll recall, Britain vs Germany. plants dropped from the skies, the scars of which are still visibile in my hometown. A few Germans stepped foot on British soils, yes, after they had been jettisoned from their aircraft by our guns. I think you need to go back to WWI to see the root cause of WWII and where allegiances etc were struck. It was EUROPEAN ALLIES fighting against the Germans-Italians-Spanish-Japanese.
Just like the UN "allies" fighting Al Qeada-Taliban I guess, however it is no crime to hang onto the ideal that all bloodshed must stop, we all live on this planet, we are all brothers and sisters. I realise that rest in war is inevitable however and sometimes it might be neccessary to put soldiers in the way of extreme danger. That hasn't stopped me from believing we must strive for peaceful resolution over violence, bloodshed and brute force. Surely this is the humane POV? So, Saddam was an evil man. His punishment he deserves but has the violence stopped? And when will it end?
