Looking at it from an impartial view, not supporting either side, apart from wanting Liverpool to win being the English team, but having a bet on Milan.. I'd say it isn't media pooe. Liverpool are the underdogs, Milan the favourites.

No it isn't evenly balanced. On paper Liverpool are the underdogs and Milan the clear favourites. In the sense of it being a one-off game were the winner takes all and gets the glory, in that sense both sides have a chance as long as they are on form and the other side are not. If both are on form though, Milan are favourites.

I looked at both team sheets before the start of the game, comparing the players like for like just out of interest. I put a tick next to the player I thought was the best from the two teams. Milan got 8 votes and Liverpool 3 from my point of view. The Liverpool players that I gave the nod to ahead of the Milan players were only Gerrard, Garcia, and Carragher. I only just gave it to Carragher ahead of Stam, and Garcia ahead of Gattuso. So Liverpool may have it marginally in Midfield, but that's the only area of the pitch.
These are some of the images I used comparing the teams and their strengths:
