Just a quick post to tell you another side of the story.

Italian press slams Juve fans
source: teamtalk.com The Italian media have condemned the behaviour of a section of the Juventus support at Anfield on Tuesday night who snubbed a tribute to those who died in the Heysel Stadium disaster. Liverpool...

18 - 4 Good post, I've begun to think much the same thing recently, for both the argument that we overrate...

I went along to the Liverpool- Juve game and, like everyone, enjoyed a good match. I went along with a couple of juve fans I know so found myself in the away end. Before we go any further let me say that's not unusual for me as I'm a bluenose (Cue abuse now!) and I'm obviously about as welcome on this newsgroup as a manc with rabies but I was interested to see what the opinion of the incedent was from your point of view. The behaviour of the few ultras who turned their backs to the banner was a disgrace but their dickheads so lets not let the minority spoil what was honest and nice gesture. The applauding during the minutes silence may have seemed disrepectful but it's the Italian way of showing their respect. The applause is to show appreciation for what the individual did in life. In much the same way as you applaud the team off after a good performance to show your appreciation. To me the few Juve fans who booed during the pre-kick off rendition of 'You'll never walk alone' showed as much dispect at that point as at any other. Even a Bluenose I have to admit that the sound of forty-odd thousand people singing that song all at once is a bloody moving thing. Other than those minorities who ruined what should have been a memorable occation the Juve fans were well behaved through out the match, apllauding the Liverpool fans as they left and even applauding the Liverpool players as they ran round the pitch in the post match warm down.

It was an honour to have been at such an occasion and I hope that sensible heads will prevail in Turin and the match is remembered for the right reasons.

Right, I'll now quietly bog off back to our own little newsgroup!
