I take your point, but, again, it was one I was already aware of. I use the term "rules" in connection with the possibliity put forward by our FA that we might have 5 teams in next time. This was against the rules and rejected. The position of 4th place= CL next time is an understanding which has been the basis of so much discussion at Liverpool, Everton, Bolton and a few clubs for months. You might argue that they should have known that 4th place does not mean automatic inclusion and that there are precidents where this did not happen. But despite this interest in the 4th place battle with the fans, teams and media, there was no comment from the FA despite Pool having a reasonable chance of going all the way. Many of us guess this is because the FA were unaware of the option they would have. (Sweet FA is so appropriate). Once they allow this to happen how can this option exist, other than on paper only? This is why I feel there is no problem. The FA have only a theoretical option. To use it would be an injustice and pretty stupid.
