Personally if Gerrard goes its for the money. Not medals. Anyone who thinks different is deluding themselves. Not sure whether it was on this NG or in another place, but it was pointed out that compared with the team who had dominated the first decade of the Premiership Liverpool had won more trophies since 2001 that they had. And while that isn't anyway near being an accurate indicator of the strength of LFC, it should serve as a dire warning to ANY player that moving to another so called bigger-better club for big money doesn't give a guarantee of winning trophies.
If he goes he goes. And with the figures being bandied about from £35 to £50 million it won't be the end of the world if he does go. But invested correctly it could just be the start of one. IMHO Alonso will be our most important player in the coming years and not Gerrard. I am still to be convinced that Gerrard and Alonso can form a centre mid partnership.
Goes without saying that this situation will need to be resolved one way or the other as if it continues it will damage all parties.
