Nothing wrong with selecting the best players but some have to be sacrifised for others. ie Alonso to allow Gerrard in the middle for away games. At home put Alonso & Gerrard in the middle.
Agger & Carra aren't looking to bad together though and Sami has had a few offish games recently. Although quality to get back and nick the ball off Anelka.
TBH I think he should be benched and Dudek given another chance.
I'd disagree about Pennant. Time & time I've seen him start to make runs where he could get away up the right and who ever has the ball pbuttes it infield. Pennant has got pace and can cross the ball, although he is guilty in a Garcia'esq way of trying to take on too many players at times. Defensively he isn't as bad as Garcia.
Not really at fault today being made to play most of the game out on the left. Though not shown what he is capable of doing yet.

Great in Europe and have always felt he's good to chuck on but todays game wasn't suitable for his kind of play imo.
As someone else pointed out is the rotation system to blame? Players almost know they are going to get a game even if they have a poor performance, unles of course you are Peter Crouch who never seems to get selected. ;)
