He was sold by QPR because they had to cash in on him, hardly his fault.

He scored 18 league goals in 37 appearances for Portsmouth, who also cashed in when Aston Villa came knocking. That form also earned him an U21 call up. He scored at U21 EC in 2002.

He couldn't get a regular place at Aston Villa, which is hardly surprising because nothing makes sense at that club. He requested a loan and had a successful loan period at Norwich before returning to Villa.

When he moved onto Southampton he scored 16 goals in 33 appearances, Southampton were relegated and they cashed in on him.

So basically the only place he has been a flop is at the enigmatic Aston Villa.

He's scored 13 goals so far for Liverpool and done nothing wrong in an England shirt. .

Although, with only 12 goals in 47 appearances, it was inevitable they'd sell him. Your point is? Yes, he scored some goals, but...

Only place he couldn't become a regular was at Aston Villa.

Sure he isn't going to make the same impact as what Owen did but he certainly seems to do a job for England

If you say so, just like Beckham and the Neville brothers have been in their WC's and EC.

;)
