He is over the hill but no-one dares to tell him that. He is good enough to come off the bench and be an alternative option when things aren't going well. He can come on and link up play more and provide his runs and deft flicks.
I agree. He is the only striker we have who is capable of scoring 20 goals a season consistently. He used to do it in France so that proves the man can at least find the net. That is not the problem. He has pace and everyone knows defenders hate pace. It pushes them back and this isolates them from the midfield creating space in front to play in for attacking midfielders. The fundamental thoery of the 4-5-1 with a fast point man. Cisse just needs a run of games like Crouch gets and once the confidence is back I'm sure he could do very well. He is world-clbutt material. Why he plays a bit part when he should be the undisputed No1 striker at the club is a mystery to me but he seems happy and Rafa hopefully knows what he is doing. Maybe he still hasn't recovered 100% from the injury.
I shall speaketh no blasphemy for God is back. Even if he doesn't ever score a goal for us ever again I am happy.
He provides what Heskey used to do. A target man to bring the other players into play. If he could do that on the deck the way he does in the air he would be one of the best midfielders around. Unfortunately he doesn't and you can't put balls in the air in midfield so you have to put him upfront. Unfortunately he can't score with his head so he needs the ball into feet. Unfortunately he hasn't got the strength to beat defenders when the ball is at his feet. Unfortunately....you get the idea.
PS: At least the midfielders are scoring too. If the strikers can do that too without sacrificing the midfield play and the defenders can chip in a bit more like they used to then things would really be back to business at Fortress Anfield.
I'm glad that theygot the cows off before the kick off. For all their Millions they don't know how to grow grbutt, the pitch was a shocker. We still managed to have...
