The Mac is here because it became a tool for graphic designers, the newspaper business and creative people in general. Photoshop debuted on which platform? Premiere? QuarkXpress? Cubase? etc. etc. etc.
Dodgy battery? Don't believe everything you read. Yes, sure, I bet there ARE a few dodgy batteries out there. As there were a few dodgy Xbox 360s out there, or even a few(?!) Dells, Siemens, or whatever they are called, these makers of dodgy things that should be arrested for contagioning the planet with their crap. (I got a bit emotional there)
The two iPods I have are doing just fine, same with my girlfriend's iPod and iPod Nano.

My Mac doesn't crash at all. I haven't had my machine lock up on me for I don't know how long. My PC at work, however, DAMN THAT EVIL PIECE OF CRAP!!! (it's a Dell, btw)

I just took a look at my Applications folder. It's got 193 applications in there. Yes, that would probably make me a nerd, but I do what I have to do to make sure victory is near.
(oh, and they're all original and payed for, of course. All, ahem, of them)
