It didn't. Are Western European humans more evolved than Africans? Since the only thing stopping most Africans (or native Americans, native Australians etc) achieving the same is education, it would seem that the environment (education, culture, etc.) is the key.

So? They're highly effective for the environment. If the Northern Hemisphere wasn't so bloody cold, we'd all still be living in them.

Explain Australian aborigines. Explain 'native' Americans (North and South). What about many parts of Asia? The major factor in the technological advances of Western Europe (and its colonies such as the USA) has been war.

Tell that to the native Africans in senior technical & engineering positions.

Some of this is, strictly speaking, correct. Medical advances have the obvious side-effect of allowing the human race to expand exponentially. However, a major cause of 'overbreeding' in Africa is Christianity - especially Roman Catholicism and its prohibition on contraception.

As opposed, of course, to the high uptake and innate knowledge of computers and mobile phones displayed by today's Western pensioners.

It's environmental again. They may have trouble with it, but their kids will have no problem if integrated into it in the same way as any other Western kid.

Why do *we* embrace it? Except ideologically, it's no better than any other regime. Communism is an ideologically good idea until those with the power forget, just like 'democratic' governments, for whom they work.

By that token, the entire Western electorate is a bunch of morons.

That statement relies on evolution being responsible for the differences between different humans. The fact is that evolution simply hasn't had the *time* to be the major factor (unless you're a fruit fly).

Have they not heard of the Prime Directive?

Is it genetic or is it environmental? There is more genetic diversity between 2 tribes of the same species of monkey in the same Amazonian rainforest than there is between all the humans currently on the planet.

The last one being responsible for the others. There would be no space program or satellites without rocket technology; why were rockets invented? There would be no airlines without the development of aircraft technology for use in armed conflict. Even the computer was invented to buttist in warfare. The internet? A network designed to resist nuclear annihilation. AFAICS, the only other factor in technological advance, apart from ability to kill people better, is laziness.
