That doesn't make sense. Obviously staying at RM doesn't guarentee that he will sign for LFC, but if he was determined enough...

Which is why it was his decision, ergo his fault.

He chose to play rather than stick it out with Real. He could have refused to go, sat on the bench earning 90k a week till January and then see the lay of the land. Once Real realised that he was only prepared to sign for us, they would have cut their losses. They don't have a bottomless pit, and anything (£8m) is better than nothing.

As it is, in world cup year, for him, it was more important to get regular football than it was to force the issue with Real Madrid about a move to Liverpool. So it seems.

As Milan Baros proved, if the club want rid but the player doesn't want to go, the club will take less money and still sell.

Alex .....because we wouldn't-couldn't match the money NUFC offered? is it not true that LFC offered MO personal terms that were conducive to the...

So its clearly Owen's fault that he isn't signing for Liverpool, because for him playing for England is more important than playing for LFC. And for that reason he can f*** off to whomever he likes, and he will deserve a sour reaction when he comes back.

Either way, if it does happen, Newcastle have got a great player, but for a hell of a lot of money. Without decent service, though, I can't see where the goals are going to come from, no matter how good the service.

Paul, who'd love sight of the all the get out clauses apparently in his contract.
