Emotional stuff, no surprise. I think it is very simple. Last year Rafa told him to sign under his terms or be sold. New terms did not include any right to play clause. With Cisse...

.....because we wouldn't-couldn't match the money NUFC offered?

is it not true that LFC offered MO personal terms that were conducive to the players desires, added to which CL football, seemingly now not so important, added to which he would be signing for the current CL reiging champions.

I should like to point out to you that Owen held a gun to the proverbial head of the club, like a prima donna, citing CL football, challenging for the EPL,heading in the right direction, improvement etc etc before finally electing to f*** off to Spain letting us all down in the process.

What would have happened if Owen had said to Madrid, "i don't want to go to NUFC", like he had turned down other clubs,Everton for example ??

The only point at which LFC could be blamed in any way was not selling him earlier (ie with a full two years on his contract) and getting something nearer the £17m NUFC have had to pay for his services.

So when you throw that in with the "world cup year" scenario it's clear that MO only has one thing on his mind. Which is, preparing for Germany 2006.

The interesting part is the buy out clause for next year, cos I expect NUFC not to be anywhere near CL places in the league, at which point we may find MO is a LFC player once again.
