New Parker Biography
Absolutely. The HBCC formed originally around the Altair 8800 and met at the Stanford Linear Accenelrator Center (SLAC) generally, from the middle 1980s, though you would hardly have known...

Domaine Cauhaupe, Jurancon sec, 'Chante des Vignes', 2002 The color is a very light greenish tinted plae gold. Grbutty herbed lemon scents on the nose, while this translates to lemon water and a bright chalky apple flavors in the glbutt. Light and bright on its feet, this has the textural qualities of a Loire chenin combined with the tanginess of a South African sauvignon blanc. 13% About $12(?) B+-A-

Domaine Pinson, Chablis, 'Mont-de-Milieu', 1996 At nearly 10 years old, I thought it time to check one of these out. A medium bright gold. Lemon meringue nose and bamboo shoot on the nose, but otherwise not giving off all that much initially. Crisp apple, pear, ginger, and baby snap peas, with urethane coming in on the finish. The cut and minerality of either Dauvissat or Raveneau is not present, but this is decent enough, but perhaps I was looking for more from the vintage? Would probably want to drink these within the next 3-4 years. 12.8% $30 or so the time. low B+

Aldo Conterno, Barolo, Bussia 'Vigna Cicala', 1988 The color here is slightly muddled with the usual orange rind appearance of old nebbiolo. The nose is not very forthcoming, even after several hours, revealing only a little dried rose, school textbook, and old flowers. There is a little more going on in palate, which brings forth cherry sugarstick, leftover driveway sealer, and some dried fig and flowers. This is pleasant enough, but I wouldn't cite it as a particularly 'great' example of Barolo. With additional airtime, some fecal and prune notes show up. 14% Around $40 ten years ago. B+
