brutal Brut, plus Charvin, Chave, Strub, etc Sender: Ian Salut-Hi Anders Tørneskog, Oh dear, I'm going to offend..... And it's all your fault, Anders. le-on Fri, 21 Jan 2005 21:37:54 GMT, tu disais-you said:- The reason for this is as follows. There is a strain of salmonella which is to be found in battery chicken and which can harm the very elderly or otherwise weak. This is due to the repulsive practice in US chicken batteries, of removing all the detritus (polite way of saying chicken poo, dead birds, feathers and so on) milling it all up and feeding it to the poor benighted animals as "protein supplement". This closed circuit has led to the existence of this avian salmonella. Given the physiology of chicken, whereby the egg exits from a common cloaca with waste matter, there is obvioualy some slight risk of contamination of the egg by salmonella from faecal matter. Instead of taking action to prevent this repulsive and unnatural recycling, or insisting that all hens in laying units be vaccinated (which would be perfectly feasable), the US government does nothing and therefore the food nazis in the USA advise against the use of raw eggs. Their use is illegal in restaurants there. As I understand it, something like one egg is 100k is contaminated, though this figure might have risen. Certainly there's a vastly greater chance of being end in a road accident, then of dying of egg induced salmonella, but that's the way it goes. Yup, although I'm not sure whether other less harmless subsbreastutes aren't also on the market. -- All the Best Ian Hoare mailbox full to avoid spam. try me at website
