Syrah Fresh Grapes
All, Here is my latest batch. My first try with fresh grapes, and I am amazed at the experience and aromas. I live near the Presque Isle winery-supply house...

May be too late, but... I thought my 2 loacal wine supply stores were too high on their bottles, $13 or $15 for a dozen(case) of 750ml. I called a local winery to see if they could sell me bottles. They told me where they get them, $8.50 per case, but I have to buy at least $50. No break on price until you buy a gross. The winery also said there is a state law here in OK. that won't allow them to reuse bottles, and they had 3 cases they gave me for free.

I live an hour away from any large city, but have found several resturants and wine bars (close to each other) that are happy to save empties for me. I pick them up once a week. Sometimes I only get 3 to 5 cases, one week I brought home 12 cases. Even with high gas prices, I'm still ahead. I also happened to see some recycling bins in the same area. The fist week it was very empty, but a few weeks later, I was able to reach in a grab 2 3L bottles. They didn't have caps, but I plan to use them when racking from 1gal. Stu

Dissolving bentonite
I've been experimenting with using bentonite to clarify. I've been trying to add it with the must before pitching the yeast. Adding it as it's packaged causes it just to settle...
