Hello,

Over the holidays, a few friends were sitting around talking about how a handful of critics and a few giant companies are homogenizing the wines of the world. We thought that if we could build a site where people could freely teach, learn, share, and rate wines themselves, we might take a step toward preserving the variety and diversity of small wineries, distinct regions, and of wine itself. A few of us who were at that table are trying to do just that.

This is an appeal for your time and expertise as wine makers and wine lovers. After spending our spare time researching, we've started building a wiki for wine (based on wikipedia), and need help creating and editing the content. No other way to put it: We need lots of help.

The reason we chose the wiki platform is because it's so easy for anyone to use. So please, take a look, and if you're so inclined, roll up your sleeves and pitch in! If you can't help directly, please help spread the word to those who might.
